I don’t dislike body wash. But, as a human, I like changes from a boring routine. That’s why sometimes I use different alternatives to my body wash. It gives invigorating feeling to my body and freshens my mind.

I hope you are same as me, looking for a different way of body cleansing.

Today, I will share with you some marvelous way to clean body. They are highly effective, safe, and most of them are really easy to make. If you use, you must say, they are the worthy substitutes to body wash.

Body Wash Alternatives

01. Soap Berry

Soapberry is amazing. It is a small fruit that creates almost soap-like lather. That’s why its name is known as soapberry, soap nut, and wash berry. From the ancient period to today,  it is used for various purposes. Soapberry is infused in lots of skincare products. It is used in face wash and many other cleansing products. You can use soapberry to clean your body instead of body wash. Soapberry doesn’t create as much lather as body wash or soap do. But, it is effective and safe as it is natural. The pH of soapberry lather is around 5.5 which really good for your skin.

You can buy soapberry from your local departmental store. Take 10-15 dried soapberry and break them apart to bring out its seeds. Now wash the outer shell thoroughly with water to remove impurities from it. Put the soapberry shell in 0.5-gallon water and leave it for 2-3 hours. After that, start boiling the soapberry for 30 minutes. Make sure the water reaches one-fourth of its previous volume. Now stop boiling and let it cool. Put this liquid in a lidded glass jar and mix 3 drops of your favorite essential oil for aroma. Your body wash is ready. Store in a dry and cool place and use when needed. This vegan body wash will last for a month. Always shake before use.

02. African Black Soap

African black soap is one of the most used natural soap. And its popularity raises day by day. It is made by native African with the natural process. Various plant ashes are used in this soap which makes it black. Generally cocoa pod ash, palm tree ash, shea butter, tamarind, cocoa leaves, etc. are used to make African black soap.

African black soap is well known for its antibacterial and moisturizing properties. It is a nice natural replacement of body wash. You can make your black soap at home. Moreover, there are lots of African black soap available in the market from different brands. You can pick anyone to do your next natural bath.

03. Natural Earth’s Clay

Clay is used as skincare ingredients for long ago. You can use clay as your body wash alternative. You cannot get lather from it but it gives enormous cleansing benefits. Naturally, clay is great for normal, oily, and combination skin. It removes excess oil, treats acne, detoxifies skin, and brings back your skin’s inner glow. You can use fuller’s earth (Multani mitti), bentonite clay, rhassoul clay, kaolin, etc. Any of these clays are good enough to clean your body.

Just take your favorite clay power in a glass bowl. Now pour water into it to make a semi-liquid paste. Now massage your whole body with this mud paste and wait five minutes. Then rinse off thoroughly with lukewarm water. After bathing with clay don’t forget to moisturize your skin.

04. Milk Bath

Bathing with milk was a tradition for royal people. Most of the queen including Cleopatra (queen of ancient Egypt) used milk for bathing to enhances their beauty. Milk contains lactic acid which removes the dead skin cells from your skin surface. It also helps your skin glow.

But, today, bathing with milk isn’t good for your wallet health. It is a waste of milk and money. For this, you should use milk for bathing in a different way. Take two cups of whole milk and mix one cup gram flour in it. Now wet your body first, then apply this whole mixture on your body and wait 10 minutes. Now step into the shower and wash your whole body. Use lukewarm water for shower. After the shower, enjoy your soft and glowing skin.

05. Fruity Body Wash

If you are bored of your regular body wash, try a fruit juice body cleansing recipe. You can pick fruit whatever you want. For me, I choose seasonal fruit to wash my body. In summer, I use watermelon, cucumber, orange, banana, and strawberry to do my favorite fruit bath. It refreshes my whole body and mind. I use this bath pack 2-3 times a month in summer.

To make this fruit bath recipe, I take ½ slice of watermelon, a small cucumber, 4 cloves of orange, 1 ripe banana, and 4 strawberries. I put all of them into a blender and blend them well. Then I put the semi-solid mixture in a bowl to apply on my body while bathing. If it does not thicken enough, I put 1 tablespoon of gram flour 1 tablespoon of fuller’s earth in it. It gives me an amazing feeling every time I use this body wash alternative.

06. Body Oil Bath

If you have dry harsh skin, body oil bath is a great way to recover it. It delivers moisture to your skin and acts as a natural humectant. Most of the body oil has lots of skincare benefits. It shows antibacterial properties and provides enormous nutrients to your skin. There are lots of oil available for bathing like coconut oil, mustard oil, olive oil, sesame oil, and castor oil. You can use any one of mix 2 or 3 as an oil cocktail.

Most of the time I use coconut oil for bathing as an oil treatment. It costs less and gives intense moisture with antibacterial properties. I take two tablespoons of unrefined organic coconut oil and put 2 drops lavender essential oil in it. Now apply it to my whole body and wait 5-10 minutes. Then, I take a shower with lukewarm water. And after bath, I use a washcloth to wipe excess oil from my body.

07. Herbal Bath Scrub

Bath scrub or body scrub is amazing for exfoliation. It gives deep cleansing benefits to your skin by removing dead skin cells and other stubborn impurities. You can prepare your own bath scrub at home or buy one from online. It is a great cleansing alternative to body wash.

But, you should not use it everyday as like a body wash. Scrubbing twice a week while bathing is enough for a fresh and rejuvenated skin. I use different bath scrub recipes at a different time. Today I will share with you my favorite one. It gives me hydration, antibacterial benefits, exfoliation, and glow.

Put 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of oatmeal powder, 2 tablespoons of papaya pulp in a glass bowl. Mix them well and apply thoroughly on your wet body. Use hands to massage your body in a circular motion. It will help to improve the circulation of your body and remove unwanted residue from your skin. After waiting 5-10 minutes wash your body with lukewarm water. If you wash your body with herbal bath scrub once a week, you will get a glowing smooth skin within a month.

08. Orange Peel Powder

Do you know orange peel contains more vitamin C than orange juice? Vitamin C is well known for its cell renewal and skin glowing properties. It also boosts collagen production which enhances the strength of skin to fight premature aging. Orange peel powder is used in lots of skin-caring packs. You can use orange peel powder as a substitute to body wash. You can make your own orange peel powder or buy from online. To make orange peel powder dry it first, then grind it with a blender or grinder.

Take a small glass bowl and pour ¼ cup of orange peel powder and 1 cup of whole milk and mix them well. Step into the shower and wet your body. Apply the orange peel powder and milk on your body and wait for 5-10 minutes. After that, step again into the shower and wash your body with lukewarm water. Regular washing will make your body soft and glowing.

09. Dead Sea Mud

If you go there, you will see two amazing things – First, people are floating over the water easily, and second, some of them apply dead sea mud on their body. Don’t think they are mad. Because dead sea mud has lots of skincare elements. It is one of the most mineral dense mud in the earth. That’s why people use it on there body and it is now commercially available on the market. Luckily you don’t need to go the Dead Sea to get the mud.

You can also use dead sea mud as a substitute to your body wash. Main mineral contents of dead sea mud are calcium (14.4%) magnesium (50.8%), potassium (4.4), sodium (30.4%), a trace amount of zinc, and other minerals. This mud detoxifies your body, treats cellulite, and nourishes skin for a healthier look. Just take 2-3 tablespoons of dead sea mud and put some water to lower its consistency. Now apply it on your body and wait for 10 minutes. You can also massage your body with hands with applying. Don’t use a loofah for this. Then wash off your body with lukewarm water and follow your regular moisturizer.

10. Ayurvedic Bath Powder

It is a mind-blowing body wash alternative originated in India. And it is used by Indian people for years long. Now this ayurvedic bath powder is spread all over the world. Another name of it is herbal bath powder. You can make your bath powder at home or you can buy the commercial one. I prefer the commercial one. Because it is hard to get all ayurvedic ingredients to make bath powder at home. But, make sure your one is from a renowned brand.

This bath powder clears up your skin deeply and works well on some skin problems like eczema, psoriasis, acne, and blemishes. It also helps in skin discoloration and ensures instant glow. It treats your skin like ancient medicine.
